Why Should Protein Bread Be Healthier Than Ordinary Bread?
At first glance, protein bread does not differ from ordinary bread. If you touch it, however, you will notice that the consistency is somehow different: it feels a bit sticky and airier than standard whole wheat bread. The taste of protein bread is also different. Protein bread promises to be significantly higher in protein than regular bread, which is especially good for you if you exercise. A simple mixed rye bread, on the other hand, only has 217 kcal and 1 g of fat.

Silke Restemeyer from the German Nutrition Society (DGE) is critical of protein bread. “The approach of removing carbohydrates from bread as the original, important supplier of carbohydrates and turning bread into a supplier of protein is fundamentally questionable. - Spelled bran: 70 g
- Linseed: 100 g
- Sunflower seeds: 60 g
- Hazelnuts: 50 g
- Psyllium Husks: 10 g
- Salt: 1 tsp
- Baking powder: 1 bag
- Skyr: 250g
- Eggs: 3
- Sunflower seeds: 1 handful
Here’s How It Works:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top/bottom heat. Now put the spelled bran, linseed, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, psyllium husk, salt, and baking powder in a bowl and mix. Now add the skyr and then gradually knead in the eggs. Let the dough stand for a few minutes. Then you can shape the dough into a loaf and decorate it with the sunflower seeds if you like.
