Curls Without Heat: 5 Easy Ways To Replicate

Do you want beautiful curls but don’t want to damage your hair with heat? No problem! We show simple methods with which you can conjure up, dreamlike curls without straighteners, curling irons and the like.

Curls add volume to any hair and give it that certain something. However, most curling tutorials require a curling iron or flat iron to style the hair. The problem: The heat can damage your hair in the long run.

Curls without heat also have the advantage that they last much longer. We reveal five methods (including instructions) to gently curl your hair: from the crepe and iron look to classic corkscrew curls to soft beach waves.

Tip For Those In A Hurry: With all methods, we recommend using them overnight so that the curls are particularly intense. However, if you want to have the hairstyle on the same day, you can use a hair dryer to help. Blow your hair in the individual style with the cold stage until dry. It’s quick and just as gentle!

Curls Without Heat: 1 Crepe-Iron Look

Curls With Braids

We loved this method as children, and it’s still popular today: curls with classic braids. This method is quick and super easy—another plus point: the braids are very variable. Tie a loose braid for light waves, and braid many thin braids for small curls.

Time Required: medium Degree of

Difficulty: easy

What You Need:

  1. spray bottle with water
  2. hair ties
  3. optional: mousse

How It Works:

For the crepe iron look, moisten your hair with water and comb through. If you like, knead some mousse into your hair. Now divide your hair into at least four sections, depending on how thick they are.

Please start with the first section: Weave many thin braids and secure them with small hair ties. Start as close to the roots as possible. The tighter you tie the braids. The smaller and more defined the curls will be at the end.

Repeat the process with the rest of your hair, working section by section until all of your hair is braided. Leave the braids overnight, loosen the hair ties the following day – et voilà – your mini curls are done.

Tip: When braiding, make sure that the hairstyle ends up feeling comfortable. After all, you have to sleep with the pigtails on. So the rule is Braid as tightly as possible but as loosely as necessary. After all, nobody wants to wake up the following day with a headache.

No Heat Curls: 2 Corkscrew Curls

Curls With Mini Buns

Some love them. Some hate them: mini curls with a corkscrew look. You can create the look differently, for example, with small curlers or papillotes. We have decided on a method for which you do not need additional utensils and is also quick and easy.

Time Required: medium Degree of

Difficulty: easy to medium

What You Need:

  1. spray bottle with water
  2. hair ties
  3. optional: mousse

How It Works:

In the first step, wet your hair again, comb through and use some mousse if necessary. Then divide the hair into about six to eight equal sections, depending on the thickness of the hair. Now take the first strand, comb through again and twist. Make sure the ends are rotated in too. Then make the strand into a bun, i.e., roll it up towards the base and form a snail.

A hair clip or tie is the best way to secure the whole thing. Repeat the step for the remaining hair. Loosen hair ties the following day and comb hair carefully with your fingers. For that extra wow effect, shake your hair out over your head. Fix curls with hairspray for a better hold.

Curling With Curlers

Many aren’t huge fans of hair curlers, considering them uncomfortable and outdated. But curlers also have a significant advantage: they are super easy to use, and the curls are guaranteed to succeed. Here is a simple guide.

Time Required: low Level of

Difficulty: easy

What You Need:

  1. Spray bottle with water
  2. Hair rollers, self-adhesive
  3. Clips or hair slides
  4. Optional: Mousse

How It Works:

The size of the curls depends on the diameter of the curlers and the thickness of your hair. We recommend using curlers with a diameter of 3 to 4 cm for medium curls. In the first step, wet your hair again and comb it through. Then divide your hair into individual sections and wrap strand by strand around the curlers. To do this, place the curlers on the ends of your hair and roll them up to the roots. Release the following day and set with hairspray.

Tip: It is best to use curlers that are self-adhesive. If necessary, you can fix it in your hair with a clip.

Extra tip: There are practical sets that contain curlers in different sizes. There is something for every taste and hair type. Most kits even include clips for attaching.

Curls With Socks

If you don’t want classic curls but relatively light waves, the loops with socks method could be something for you. This method was recently a trend on social media. And it also convinced us: With this style, you can achieve super lovely, soft beach waves.

Difficulty: medium to high

What You Need:

  1. spray bottle with water
  2. two socks
  3. hair clips or elastics
  4. optional: mousse

Again, the same applies here: first moisten your hair, comb it, and possibly add some mousse. Now divide into two parts. Secure the sock in your hair with a clip, hair tie, or bun, then twist the strand of hair around the hose.

Curls Without Heat: 5 Soft Waves, Volume

Curls With A Hair Band Trick

You don’t want defined curls, but just some movement in your hair or the typically elegant waves? Then comes a straightforward method. All you need is a single headband.

Time Required: low Level of

Difficulty: easy

What You Need:

  1. spray bottle with water
  2. hair band with an elastic band
  3. optional: mousse

How It Works:

Only wet the bottom section of your hair this time. Then divide your hair into two teams and comb through. Now pull the hair band over your head from above. The top part of the hairband should be roughly between your forehead and your hairline, and the bottom should be nearly mid-back.

So take the first half of your hair and twist it in one direction. Then put the hair in the hairband from above and pull it out below. Then continue to twirl the hair and repeat the process until you have wrapped the entire strand around the hairband. The tighter you twist your hair, the more intense the curls will be. Twist hair loosely in one direction for soft waves.

Repeat the same on the other side. Leave in for a few hours or overnight for a more intense result. Loosen the hair band the following day and comb through the hair with your fingers. The glamour style is ready!

Already knew? This method is not only super easy but also protects your hair ends at night. You can prevent split ends and frizz, among other things.
